VIAN, Oklahoma – A paramedic involved in a scuffle with an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper in May of 2009 has been arrested in Sequoyah County.

Paramedic Maurice White was arrested this morning at about 9:15 for speeding, as well as for a seatbelt violation, not having insurance, failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest, said Vian Assistant Police Chief Bryan Chandler.

White's May 24 scuffle with OHP Trooper Daniel Martin garnered national attention. A confrontation occurred after Martin pulled over the ambulance, which was taking a woman to the hospital in Prague. The trooper said he was upset that the ambulance did not yield as he responded to an emergency call.

Attorney Richard O'Carroll says White is scheduled to appear as a witness Wednesday in a case involving a Holdenville man who accused Martin of using excessive force.
