OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City Police have identified the officer injured in a fatal shootout Saturday. Officer Kris Hunter, a 7-year veteran of the Oklahoma City Police Department was shot twice by a suspect at N.E. 23rd Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Tremall Lavar Anderson, 28, was later shot and killed by Officer Daniel Godsil at N.E. 23rd Street and Hood Avenue. Godsil is also a 7-year veteran of the Oklahoma City Police Department and was the original pursuing officer during the pursuit.

Officer Hunter received a gunshot wound to his left arm and a grazing gunshot wound to his left leg.

Police said they tried to pull over Anderson near N.E. 13th Street and Kelham Avenue around 5 p.m. Saturday during a routine traffic stop when he sped off.

Oklahoma City Police Captain Patrick Stewart said Hunter was in the process of setting up stop sticks on N.E. 23rd Street when Anderson shot the officer from his car. Anderson was able to drive a few more blocks before police were finally able to return fire hitting him at least once.

Hunter was transported by another officer's car to OU Medical Center. He is listed in good condition following surgery.

Anderson was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died.
