Days Left to Finish Holiday Shopping

OKLAHOMA CITY – There is less than a week until Christmas and many people are rushing to get their shopping done.

It was madness this weekend at many malls across the metro including Penn Square Mall. Parking was a nightmare and once inside, the stores were packed.

NEWS 9 found one shopper who got all his shopping done after several hours.

"I've been here for about three hours and there are a lot of people here. It's hard to walk around and we're bumping into people and they stop in front of you, but if you know what you're looking for it can go pretty fast," said last minute shopper Andrew Walters.

Many places are staying open later for the last minute rush, so check your local mall for extended hours.

The National Retail Federation reported that shoppers had only finished less than half of their shopping by last week.

If you're waiting for massive clearance sales to finish up your holiday shopping, you may be out of luck. Retail experts say stores did a better job this year of matching supply with demand so they aren't as desperate to offer huge discounts.
