OKLAHOMA CITY -- The national, cross-country tour titled “Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day” is hosting rallies across America including one against government spending in Oklahoma City.

Tea Party Express Rally

"The rallies seek to educate, entertain and encourage patriotic Americans who are concerned about the quasi-socialistic policies being pushed by the Obama/Pelosi/Reid administration," according to the group’s press release.

The rally in Oklahoma City started at 6 p.m. at the Oklahoma State Capitol’s North Plaza. Two 44-foot buses along with several support vehicles arrived at the State Capitol.

Rough estimates show nearly 3,000 gathered on the north lawn for the traveling Tea Party Express II ready to promote a big message.

"I love it when Americans come together to come against tyranny," one rally attendee shouted.

People in the crowd dressed in costumes and many held homemade signs criticizing President Obama and his administration.

"They will eat away at your freedom," many cheered.

Organizers say it was a chance for average people to talk about what worries them, and by looking at the signs in the crowd the message was crystal clear. Conservatives want change and they have their sights set on the 2010 elections.

"I’m sick and tired of the lies and double standards. I’m just fed up with it," said McAlester resident Mark Wood.

The tour comes exactly at the one year point from the 2010 elections. Organizers say their goal is to stop the quasi-socialistic policies pushed by liberals in Washington and to decrease government spending.

Health care reform was another hot topic but at least one group of Oklahoma doctors that showed up say the tea party express is slowing down what’s right for Americans.

"In a recent poll, 73 percent of doctors are in favor of health care reform so the tea party doctors who aren’t in favor of health care reform don’t represent the majority,” said Dr. Boyd Shook, who supports health care reform.

The bus tour is crossing the country. It started last week in San Diego and will end the tour in Orlando, Florida, stopping in 38 cities in just 19 days.
