EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Many cut corners when it comes to driving, hoping to shave a few seconds off of travel time. But if you're caught doing it in Edmond, it will now cost you a pretty penny thanks to a revised traffic law.

It's a law that already exists; the difference now is that drivers who don't yield when pulling out of commercial drives could get a ticket.

Ann Cosetti and her husband are frequent drivers in Edmond and she's had her share of close calls.

"They come around those corners, they don't slow up," Cosetti said.

She's talking about drivers who make unsafe turns. Right now, the existing law considers failure to yield on highways and roadways at intersections an offense, but a revised ordinance will apply to drivers who also fail to yield at public and private roads and driveways around the city of Edmond.

NEWS 9 cameras caught several drivers trying to beat oncoming traffic to the punch and it's that bad driving behavior that could get you a ticket.

For other drivers like Mike Evans, he says driving around the city of Edmond is pretty safe.

"No more worse than normal," said Evans. "I really don't think it's as bad as other states; Washington D.C., Milwaukee, really aggressive drivers, but here, mostly polite."

It hasn't been a major problem in the city but as a safety precaution police want drivers to be careful. If you're caught failing to yield, the ticket could cost about $120.
