MIAMI -– The game stayed close throughout, but the OU Sooners were unable to overcome Miami on the way to a 21-20 loss.

The Sooners (2-2) got off to a quick start on both sides of the ball. They intercepted Miami (3-1) quarterback Jacory Harris on the Hurricanes’ first two possessions, and OU quarterback Landry Jones threw a touchdown pass on OU’s first possession to take an early 7-0 lead.

The Sooners then took a 10-0 lead on a field goal by Jimmy Stevens in the second quarter after a fake field goal extended the drive. Miami got on the board later in the quarter with a touchdown pass from Jacory Harris to Jimmy Graham, and OU took a 10-7 lead into halftime.

The momentum reversed at the second half began. First, wide receiver Ryan Broyles came out of the locker room in street clothes after catching just one pass. It was later learned that Broyles broke his shoulder blade and will be out 4-6 weeks.
