OKLAHOMA CITY - The former executive director of the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association has pleaded guilty to embezzling from the organization.

Danny Rennels will not go to prison but will repay the organization $421,500 within 30 days.

Prosecutors say relatives of Rennels have agreed to come up with the money.

Records show Rennels admitted taking money from September 2005 through March 2009 to pay off loans and gambling debts.

He was fired in March after the embezzlement was discovered.

The OSSAA regulates high school sports and other extracurricular activities such as music, speech and debate competitions in the state.
