OKLAHOMA CITY -- An e-mail has been circulating stating a metro restaurant and its customers have been scammed and that fake gift cards are supposedly circulating. However officials said the gifts cards are good.
The gift cards for $100 can be found on SkyAuction.com for only $39. When the owner of Pearl's Restaurant Group, Paul Seikel, found out about the price, he grew concerned that someone was trying to scam his customers.
Seikel said he's never heard of the company and when he tried to reach them no one returned his calls. That's when he decided to sent out an e-mail warning about 25,000 people of the possible scam.
However, when authorities got involved, Seikel was finally able to get in touch with Sky Auction.
It turned out the gift cars were legit and Pearl's had given them away about two years ago to a different company that had apparently sold them to Sky Auction.
Seikel said he is relieved to know it's not a scam and will honor any of the gift cards, but he did warn the expiration date on the cards is November 1, 2009.
