SEMINOLE, Oklahoma -- Despite the wet weather, hundreds from across the state gathered to remember and honor two fallen heroes.

Willie Williams said he still remembers the days when he rode along side his big brother, Captain Marvin Williams. Captain Williams and Deputy Chase Whitebird were both shot and killed in the line of duty back in July.

"It kind of reminds me of what you lost and at the same time how much living we had together, and we lived a great deal together. I mean memories that can't be replaced," said Williams. Marvin was a great guy and he wouldn't want anybody to be down on the dumps, him or Chase, either one."

On Saturday, nearly 300 officers and bikers rallied in honor of the fallen heroes, despite the pounding rain, and the roar of their motorcycles echoed up and down the highway through five counties.

"We had support from all over the state and country so it really helped a lot. We didn't feel alone," said Seminole Police Department Officer Terry McGinnis.

Those close to the fallen heroes said they were surprised and touched by the overwhelming turnout.

"It just means the world to us to see all these people in the rain, the pouring rain, riding these bikes and showing their support for our agency and the families who've had such a great loss," said Reserve Officer D.J. Peton, Seminole Police Department.

Bikers at the event said it's clear to see, even beyond the rain, that these men will always be in the hearts and minds of this community.

"It's a healing process and the best way to get there is good fellowship, happiness and joy," Williams said.

The memorial ride was also a fundraiser. All proceeds will go to the Fallen Heroes Memorial Park, which will be located at the new Seminole County Jail.
