Storms Cause Power Outages Across State, School Closes

Overnight and early morning rain and storms caused power outages across Oklahoma.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Overnight and early morning rain and storms caused power outages across Oklahoma.

There were reports of widespread wind damage in southeast Kay County this morning. Several trees and power lines were knocked down and several homes were damaged, according to the National Weather Service. One house had its roof ripped off.

St Mary's School in Ponca City canceled classes today due to power outages.

Edmond Public Schools started back today, and Oklahoma City, Yukon, Putnam City, and Mustang are all going back this week as well.

The National Weather Service said Tuesday night would be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms continuing statewide and lows from the upper 60s to upper 70s.

Skies are to begin clearing Wednesday and become partly to mostly sunny with a slight chance for scattered rainfall and highs reaching the 80s and 90s.

Thursday is to be partly cloudy with another chance for showers moving into the state, especially in the northeast, while highs are to range from the low to mid 80s in the Panhandle to the mid 90s in the southwestern and southeastern corners of the state. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the upper 60s to the upper 70s.
