OKLAHOMA CITY -- Controversy in Nichols Hills between a church and its neighbors may be over. Christ the King Catholic Church is dropping the plan to use a building on the property as a youth center.
The neighbors didn't like the idea that the house on the church's land was going to be used for something it wasn't intended for.
Originally it was zoned, residential. That changed sometime along the way and just last spring the city commission ruled that it be zoned as a residential space once again -- when complaints were lodged. Now, the church is dropping the idea altogether.
Christ the King staff says, it's not worth the controversy it's caused, and that all of this is hurting the goodwill of the neighborhood.
