OKLAHOMA CITY -- The economy may be putting drivers at risk as people hold off on fixing their vehicles.

More and more drivers are passing up crucial car repairs. In fact, a report out in January by the Car Care Council, an organization committed to car safety, said that 80 percent of the cars on the road need some type of service or parts.

One mechanic in the metro said that's not a surprise to him.

"More and more in the past few months of course, it's just the economy people think it's not going to be any better, trying to hold off as last as they can," said Elton Freeman, the Big O Tires manager.

Big O Tires is offering discounts and a 12 month no interest credit card in an effort to help customers pay for their repairs.
