STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy, assistant coaches and the Cowboy players met up with the media and fans for OSU media day.

Thousands of fans crowded around to get autographs and meet their favorite college football stars.

In four weeks, the Cowboys will play possibly the most anticipated non-conference home game in OSU history, the Cowboys showdown with Georgia. Both teams preseason ranked in the Top 15, with OSU at No. 11.

Senior quarterback Zac Robinson discussed the season-opening game.

"We're such an experienced group. We have 20-something seniors, a lot on offense, a lot on defense. That leadership is helping the young guys out a lot. We're coming out, and we're having a lot of enthusiasm at practice, so practice has been going well. Hopefully we can continue, in the next couple weeks, practicing well and being enthusiastic and having fun and getting better," Robinson said.

Head coach Mike Gundy said it was important to get off to a good start for the season.

"I think it's important the way college football works now that you want to get out to a good start. It helps you in practice. It helps with the morale of the team. Everybody is happy and feels good when you're winning, the students on campus. Secondly, you create some momentum when you get off to a good start and you win three, four, five in a row. You get into a routine, and you gain momentum. You go through a period of time during the middle of October when the players can begin to get fatigued. If you're winning then, it's a lot easier to get them to practice hard," Gundy said.

The coach commented on the higher expectations set for his team, but it showed the importance of playing well and continuing a solid program as he goes into his fifth year with the Pokes.

"Especially the senior class this year, you know they have the chance to leave and do something special. They've kind of taken this program to a different level, and they have the opportunity to leave it to the young guys. I think that's important to them," Gundy said.

Robinson believes Oklahoma State is becoming one of the nation's elite teams.

"I think so. We've got all the pieces in place - great coaches, obviously the facilities are phenomenal. So now it's just time to get out on the field and get it done. I think we've got a group that can do it," the senior quarterback said.
