NORMAN, Oklahoma - The United State Postal Service has slashed the hours of 147 contract workers at a Norman facility.

The employees at the Maintenance Technical Support Center were told today their hours would be reduced from 40 to 32 hours per week, said Dave Lewin, postal service spokesman.

The postal service contracts with Harris IT Services Corporation, who provides the 147 contract employees, to provide tech support to field technicians operating mail processing equipment.

The employees hours were reduced because a decline in mail volume is decreasing the need for equipment maintenance, Lewin said.
