CHESTER, Oklahoma -- A large grassfire burned about two miles north of Chester Friday evening.

Grassfire in Major County
The fire started around 4 p.m. and spread over six miles long and three miles wide. It could be seen as far east as Enid in Garfield County.

Fire crews from Seiling, Woodward, Arnett, Hammon and other local cities were on the scene and were working to gain control of the blaze.

The fire got close to two homes, but no damages or injuries were reported Friday. The blaze was the largest fire since February in northwest Oklahoma.

Officials said the fire may have been started by a low lying electric line of a mobile home that sparked.
