48 Pounds of Pot Seized During Traffic Stop

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Illinois man was arrested on a drug trafficking complaint after police found 48 pounds of marijuana in his car, officers said.

Rodney Ettress, 53, Springfield, Ill., was arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop on Interstate 35 in north Oklahoma City.

Police stopped his vehicle at about 10:25 p.m. Wednesday. During the stop, officers found a cardboard box containing 12 bundles of marijuana, weighing about 48 pounds, according to a police report.

Officers also seized a bottle with 26 hydrocodone pills.

As of Friday afternoon, Ettress was being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a complaint of trafficking a controlled dangerous substance. His bond is set at $25,000, according to jail records.
