OKLAHOMA CITY -- One of the summer's most anticipated blockbusters featured some familiar local heroes.

The actors helping to fight off the enemies in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" were actually real life service members.

Lt. Col. Jimmy Warren is a commander stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, but he can also been seen commanding the famous E-3 aircraft in the movie.

"My line was, ‘scramble the strike package for the USS Enterprise,'" said Lt. Col. Jimmy Warren. "Twenty-two years in the Air Force. It was the most unique experience I've ever had."

He and airmen from the 964th Airborne Air Control Squadron basked in the glow of lights and cameras with stars like Tyrese Gibson.

"Getting to walk around on set before we shot was really neat. Just to see how they build sets and set up explosions was really cool," said Instructor Air Surveillance Officer James Ross.

Ross said the acting came naturally, mainly because they were playing themselves providing key information for national and world security.

"It was very realistic. The director gave us the scenario and we came up with the script ourselves," Ross said.

While Warren said the whole experience of movie making was great, the most difficult thing of the whole process could actually be seeing the film.

"Probably be a little nervous. I hope I don't look silly on screen. I've never done this kind of thing before," he said.

Warren said he took his sons to see the film Wednesday night. The rest of the Tinker actors will see the movie this weekend during a special screening at Tinker Air Force Base.

The scenes were filmed at a base in New Mexico.
