OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Hollywood Actress responsible for plastering several shark posters around downtown Oklahoma City earlier this month will not face any charges.

Pictures showed Jessica Alba defacing parts of downtown Oklahoma City. Alba said she intended to raise awareness about the great white shark but instead, she sparked a great debate.

"It doesn't matter what walk of life somebody comes from," said Oklahoma Police Sergeant Gary Knight. "We're going to investigate a crime and do what we typically do around here."

Knight said the actress didn't receive preferential treatment. He said, in this case, the property owners didn't want to prosecute.

"If there's not a victim willing to prosecute, typically the case is closed and that's no different from any other," Knight said.

However, many residents disagree and have expressed their views on News9.com.

"What kind of message is this sending not only to the people of Oklahoma but people from all over the country?" said Margaret, a News9.com user.

But Thomas, another News9.com user, thought otherwise.

"Typical Oklahoman reaction, intolerance to different ideas and methods of expression. The signs can be removed, no big deal," Thomas said.

Brian Alford is with OG&E, which was one of the companies affected by the vandalism. He said it didn't make sense financially to take Alba to court.

"We know it's a few hundred dollars. Not a large amount of money," OG&E Spokesperson Brian Alford said. "We accepted Miss Alba's apology and appreciate her willingness to step forth and help our local United Way."

A United Way billboard was also vandalized by Alba. Since the incident, she has offered to make a donation to the charity.

"Most of our calls have come from other United Ways and directors around the country just interested in the fact this has happened," United Way of Central Oklahoma President Bob Spinks said. "Some of them asking if there was any way we could help them get in touch with Jessica Alba to help them raise money in their local communities."

There is no word when the United Way will receive Alba's donation or how much it will be. Police said they never interviewed Alba, only the victims.

Jessica Alba has been in Oklahoma filming the movie, "The Killer Inside Me."
