Crews Rescue Man Stranded on Highway Sign

Tulsa emergency crews rescued a man who was stranded on the platform of a road sign over the south leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa emergency crews rescued a man who was stranded on the platform of a road sign over the south leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop.

The incident happened shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday.

Officers with the Tulsa Police Department said the man was walking along the bridge, fell and landed on the platform of the sign below.

EMSA and crews with the Tulsa Fire Department were called in to rescue the man, while officers blocked the highway.

Firefighters set up a ladder and lowered the man to safety.

Officers said they believe the man may have been intoxicated. He was taken into police custody.

The highway was shut down for about 15 minutes.
