EDMOND, Oklahoma -- The Endeavor Games, a multi-sport event for athletes with physical disabilities, are in full swing through this weekend.

Kari Miller is an all-around athlete and has the skills to prove it. She's a paralympic silver medalist.

"Everyone's got their different skill set, so you have to bring your best out there," Miller said.

Miller was in the Army and joins many service men and women in the Endeavor Games.

"You have everyone coming together, little kids, old people, and they get to play against each other," Miller said.

Athlete Rico Roman was injured in Iraq after an IED blast. This year marks his first year competing.

"I really don't know if I can do it yet, but I'm willing to try," Roman said. "That's how everyday is, giving everything a new shot and trying something different."

The athletes know even when the competition is difficult, it's important to get back up and try again.

"Everybody wants a sense of accomplishment and challenge and when you get up in the morning...even though you may not be the best at it, you know you can give your best," Miller said. "It's just important to have that in your day."

This year, there are 70 athletes from the military, which is triple the number from last year.

The Endeavor Games are taking place at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond through Sunday.
