Peters and Symes both have family members with disabilities. According to Peters, there are approximately 70 children with disabilities in Yukon, and the fundraiser could help send them to participate in the annual Special Olympics.

Activities organized by the Yukon Citizen's Police Academy, Friends of Yukon and Yukon Athletes helped draw donations from businesses and the general public.

Donations are still being accepting at the Yukon Police Station.

You can donate the Special Olympics Athletes of Yukon online.

The Oklahoma Special Olympics Summer Games will be held in Stillwater, from May 13 through 15.
