Garrett Buechele Follows in Father's Footsteps

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Garrett Buechele, the son of former Oklahoma City 89er and big-leaguer Steve Buechele, is having one of the greatest freshman seasons in OU baseball history.

He is hitting .369, with a team-high in doubles, 32 RBI and an on-base percentage of .435.

Steve Buechele is now the manager of the Class A Bakersfield Blaze in the Texas Rangers organization, but Garrett, the oldest of five kids, gives dad the bat-by-bat breakdown after every game.

While the Buechele last name is instantly recognizable to baseball fans, the Sooners say you can tell this kid grew up around a big league clubhouse.
