NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The CDC confirmed 109 cases of H1N1 virus in 11 states Thursday, as the Oklahoma State Department of Health  continues to brace for the swine flu's inevitable appearance.

Thus far, no tests have come positive in Oklahoma, and Norman-based company Bio-Cide is busy helping people protect themselves.

"We fight a daily battle to protect human health," said Bio-Cide Special Projects Manager Robert Picek.

People are attempting to protect themselves from the H1N1 virus by sanitizing their hands, a Bio-Cide product which has become highly demanded in the past week.

Bio-Cide International has seen a 40 percent spike in business for their antimicrobial products.

"It's been a little crazy for the past three days," said Bio-Cide Chief Operating Officer Dr. Neeraj Khanna. "We've been getting inquiries from all over the world."

The requests for their products have come from Hong Kong, Peru, England, and other countries and Bio-Cide is rushing out shipments of their products.

Their sanitizers are used in Oklahoma prisons, schools and hospitals across the country and businesses worldwide.

"You mix some activator to a bottle, mix it and add it to a fogging machine," Dr. Khanna said. "Basically, fog the whole area."

The products fight bugs, bacteria, fungi and viruses.

"Knowing there's a way to fight gives people relief," Picek said.

Studies have proven the products will kill the virus, and the company is confident they can win the battle.

"We're very confident that we'll kill it," Khanna said "We know that similar strains, from avian influenza, it's not been a problem for our product to kill that."

The product can also be applied to surfaces by mopping or wiping areas that may have potential for infection.
