OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Red Cross has helped victims of ice storms, tornadoes and the recent fires, but they are close to being tapped out.

In the last four months, the Red Cross has surpassed the number of disasters they had all of last fiscal year, and now they're low on funds and in dire need of donations.

"We rely 100 percent on donations to provide for disaster relief. It's kind of a tough time but we really need to meet the needs of the people and we really rely on the public to help us out," said Red Cross spokesperson April Wilkerson.

Donate to the American Red CrossThe Red Cross has helped thousands who were displaced from their homes, including Kenneth Wertz who lost his home in the fire Thursday.

"It's hard to explain, there's not enough gratitude to give to folks like this. It's really amazing, it really is," Wertz said.

The Red Cross is helping fire victims with individual needs at a service center set up at the Douglas Boulevard United Methodist Church located at 208 South Douglas in Midwest City on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"If it wasn't for Red Cross and all the other people who stop by out of nowhere, it'd be total devastation," Wertz said. "It'd be hard to make it through something like this without these folks."
