MIDEWST CITY, Oklahoma -- Firefighters battled a large house fire in Midwest City Wednesday afternoon.
High winds fuel the fire at SW 29 Street and Hiwassee in the Forrest Glen housing edition.
Firefighters say the $300,000 home is a total loss.
"The first arriving engine company couldn't even see the entrance of the house," Midwest City Fire Chief Randy Olsen said. "The apparatus was completely engulfed in smoke."
The homeowner said he believes the fire to have likely started from space heater in the garage.
"If the alarm hadn't woke me up, I probably wouldn't be here," said homeowner Terry Preble.
No injuries were reported.
