OKC Youth Minister Faces Sex Charges

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A metro youth minister is facing several sex charges, including rape. He's accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl and also sending her explicit text messages.

Village police say they learned about the accusations against Doug Davis from the alleged victim's parents.

Davis is out of jail, but his legal problems are just beginning.

"We learned about this case, I believe, on Saturday," Steve Jagosh Deputy Chief, Village Police Department said.

From there Village Police wasted no time investigating the allegations against 30-year-old Davis. He's the youth minister at Village Baptist Church.

"We should be able to trust people at churches, youth ministers and things like that," Jagosh said. "When that trust is broken and a person puts themselves in a position to be around those people they can victimize, it's the worst situation you can have."

Davis was arrested Monday afternoon on complaints including second-degree rape, rape by instrumentation and lewd and indecent proposals against a child under 16.

"I think it was a family friend situation, so I think they had known each other for a number of years, but the situation where it turned sexual just did happen," Jagosh said.

Investigators say the girl did not belong to the youth group at Village Baptist. However, police want to make sure no one at the church was also victimized.

"We don't have any information," Jagosh said. "There are more victims; however, if there are more victims we want to know that."

Davis was unavailable for a comment. He bonded out of jail Tuesday afternoon on a $40,000 bond and will likely be charged sometime next week.

As for Village Baptist Church, church leaders have decided it's not appropriate right now to issue any type of statement.
