EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Many drivers have pet peeves when they get behind the wheel, and now they can issue citizen citations.
Drivers complain about dangerous interstate driving, crossing multiple lanes during rush hour and talking on cell phones while maneuvering through traffic.
"I usually lay on the horn and let them know they're doing something to piss me off," one driver said.
A citizen citation is something any driver can issue.
Edmond Officer James Hamm said if a driver is spotted breaking the law, a call can be made to the police and they'll offer the paper work to file the complaint.
"They would have to go and testify as we do in traffic court," Officer Hamm said. "They have to prove to the judge that his person did do the violation."
Few drivers actually exercise their right to file a complaint due to the extensive leg work involved.
Even the worst offenders are sometimes offended by others.
"Probably the worst is when they go 10 miles under the speed limit," Officer Hamm said. "It drives me nuts."
