SEMINOLE COUNTY, Okla. --The day after winning a re-election campaign, an Oklahoma Sheriff was accused of having sex with a minor and providing her with alcohol, officials said.

"It breaks my heart to think that she would make these allegations as good friends as we were," said Seminole County Sheriff Joe Craig. "This is someone I've known for a long time."

Upon hearing the accusations, Craig called the state's Bureau of Investigation.

"I called OSBI and I said, ‘This is not right. I'd appreciated it if you guys find this young lady and work on this for me,'" Craig said.

Craig said he remains confident that he will be cleared once the investigations is completed and said he's received several phone calls and letters of support.

Craig said the girl blamed him for a horse that died, but he doesn't know if that motivated her to make the accusations.

Craig also said he remained close with the family and spoke with them as recently as last week, but he hasn't heard from them since the allegations were made.

The girl has not been seen since Friday.
