OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City police say they hope a missing 9-year-old boy has gone to a friend's home and will show up for school today. Police say Nicholas Valadez disappeared from his home on the city's northwest side between 6 p.m. Monday and midnight.
SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) - Police in Shawnee say an officer is on administrative leave after shooting and killing a knife-wielding man who lunged at officers. Police say Russell Thomas McCann was shot early Monday by an officer responding to a 911 hang-up call and being told by a woman that McCann had tried to break into her apartment.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - State Representative Rex Duncan says he believes the U.S. Supreme Court was wrong in finding that the death penalty for child rapists is unconstitutional. The House Judiciary Committee has approved Duncan's bill that allows the death penalty for repeat sex offenders convicted of raping a child 6 years old or younger.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A portrait of traditional Native American storyteller Te Ata (tay-AW'-tah) has been dedicated in the Oklahoma State Senate Chamber. The portrait sponsored by U.S. Rep. Tom Cole and the Chickasaw Nation is now on display inside the state Capitol.
