GUTHRIE, Oklahoma -- Nearly 25,000 people are expected to attend the Mumford & Sons concert in Guthrie this Fall. And in one day, the group has sold more than 20,000 tickets.

"It's very exciting for our town," says Lucy Swanson, sales manager for the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce. "People from all over the world have inquired about tickets."

International recording sensation Mumford & Sons will hold a 2-day music festival on September 6 and 7. Tickets went on sale online at 11 a.m. on Friday, and already there's trouble.

"We did receive several calls here in the office from the time the announcement was made Tuesday until yesterday of people saying, ‘Oh I just found some for $450 online. Should I go ahead and get them?'" Swanson says. "And we said 'No, no please don't because those are bogus.' If you have anything right now, then they're not legitimate."

Swanson says she heard multiple online vendors were selling fake tickets before the official concert tickets, which cost $109 for the 2-day pass, went on sale on the group's Web site: www.gentlemenoftheroad.com

Mumford & Sons is up for six Grammy's including Album of the Year and Best Rock Song. Their concert is creating quite the buzz in town. Swanson says all of Guthrie's hotel rooms are sold out for the event.

"We're really enthusiastic," she says. "We already have some of the shops downtown that are putting up posters and stuff and the concert isn't until September. We're really excited."

The British band will take the stage at Guthrie's Cottonwood Flats. It is an empty field now that will be transformed into a two-day campsite.

Swanson says about 40 different vendors will sell items for the festival, local artists are expected to perform on the first night, while Mumford & Sons will sing their award-winning folk rock songs the last night of the event.

"They'll have all kinds of things. They said they'll have magicians and jugglers and sword swallowers to create a real festival atmosphere," she says. "A street party is really what we'll have downtown."

If you believe you have purchased fake tickets, report it to the police.

"I hope that nobody was gullible enough to go ahead and do that," said Swanson. "I feel really bad for them if they did because that's quite a big chunk of money they were asking for."

Other bands that will be playing the festival in Guthrie, include Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and another Grammy-nominated group, the Alabama Shakes.
