OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police are trying to find out who gunned down a house sitter early Tuesday morning in the 6900 block of S. Shartel Avenue in Oklahoma City.

The victim was shot and killed around 1:30 a.m. at a home near Interstate 240 and Walker. Police say it appears the fatal shots may have come from outside the house.

Detectives shut down the street for several hours while they investigated the homicide. Police say although the victim was the only person in the home when they arrived, they're not sure if he was the only person inside the home when the shooting occurred.

The victim was apparently staying at the house while the homeowners were out of town. His name has not been released.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
