TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa County prosecutors have filed murder and burglary charges against a 14-year-old boy who confessed to breaking into a Jenks home and shooting a woman to death.

Joshua Scott Mooney was charged with first degree murder and second degree burglary for the killing of 47-year-old Mary Escue in her parents' home.

Escue's parents came home on the evening of December 17, 2012 to find their daughter dead from a gunshot wound. Some of the victim's belongings and a car were also stolen from the residence.

The next day, Escue's camera bag and wallet were found tossed into a yard in Sapulpa. Someone then reported seeing three people, including Mooney, in the stolen car around the same area.

Investigators said Mooney confessed to breaking into the home to look for money. They said he hid in the kitchen with a rifle he found in the residence when Escue returned to the home. He then forced Escue into a computer room, aimed the rifle at her head and fired, deputies said.

Wednesday, Tulsa County deputies said they were questioning a 13-year-old boy in connection with the murder, as well, but said they were awaiting additional evidence to determine whether that boy was also in the house when Escue was killed.
