Washington D.C. -

Thousands of environmentalists protested outside the White House, urging President Obama to reject the Keystone XL Pipeline project that would run through Oklahoma.

The protesters say the pipeline could contaminate the water supply, create air pollution and harm wildlife. But the American Petroleum Institute says it would be a huge boost to the economy.

The pipeline would bring oil from Canada through Cushing, Okla. to the Gulf Coast.
