OKLAHOMA CITY -
An Oklahoma City High School Science teacher and girls'
volleyball coach says he's sorry for a hate-filled rant he posted on Facebook,
Tuesday night.
Southeast High's Lamont Lowe was angry that voters approved
a measure that wipes out Affirmative Action programs in Oklahoma. This is
part of what he posted on Facebook:
"I live in a state
that hates me, hates women…revoking affirmative action is spitting in my
face. This is the reason I hate OU Sooners and the OKC Thunder, and
everything that represents this racist state! Die Oklahoma! Hope a
tornado blows away the Capital and all the rednecks in it."
Oklahoma City's school district emailed News 9 this
response:
"OKCPS is very
disappointed and saddened by the teacher's post. We do not agree with or
support his comments. But we do recognize his first amendment right to
freedom of speech."
News 9 went to Lamont Lowe's home Wednesday night.
While he refused to go on camera, he said he does not hate Oklahomans. He
said he used a very very poor choice of words, and he is very sorry.
