OKLAHOMA CITY -

Paramedics rushed a seventh-grade student from Douglass Mid-High School to the hospital Wednesday morning after he was hit by a van at N.E. 8th Street and Bath Avenue.

Neighbors say the teen was heading to a nearby school bus stop when he was hit by the van around 7:10 a.m. The van's driver says the teen walked into the street, and in front of her vehicle.

Witnesses said the boy was knocked unconscious. When he woke up, he appeared to be very disoriented and tried to leave the scene. The driver of the van and a witness, who are both nurses, convinced him to stay and wait for an ambulance. Both tell News 9 the teen had a significant head wound.

Paramedics took the child to a nearby hospital. His condition is not known.
