Midwest City Teen May Have Shot Himself, Concocted Story

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -

Midwest City police now say a 19-year-old man found in a ditch with a gunshot wound may have shot himself.

Police were called out to N.E. 23rd Street and Shadynook in Midwest City around 11 a.m. Thursday. At first, investigators believed the victim had been shot in the leg by several suspects in a black Cadillac. Police even searched a nearby apartment complex for the vehicle.

The victim was taken to a hospital. His gunshot wound was not life threatening. Police later discovered the may have made up the story after he shot himself.

His name isn't being released but police say he may be charged with filing a false police report.
