OKLAHOMA CITY -

A woman who drove off of Interstate 35 into a canal on Monday fell asleep at the wheel.

Thirty-one-year old Chantal Moore lost control of her car during the morning rush hour as she headed south on I-35 near Interstate 40 and downtown Oklahoma City.

Her car veered off the highway and crashed into the canal below. The canal feeds into the Oklahoma River.

Moore was able to escape her car and swim to safety. She only suffered minor injuries. Emergency crews pulled her car out of the canal a couple of hours after the crash.
