MEEKER, Oklahoma -

People are coming out of the woodwork to complain about an alleged police speed trap in Meeker.

The stretch of roadway people are complaining about is northbound highway 18, between Meeker and Shawnee.  Road construction caused the state to lower the speed limit from 55 to 35 miles per hour in spots.

Stacy Goad and her husband own a pawn shop that sits next to highway 18 in Meeker.  Until recently, they kept a sign outside their store, warning passing motorists that police have been targeting people for speeding.

"There's always somebody pulled over in our parking lot," Goad said.

Neither Meeker's police chief nor the city attorney has accepted News 9's invitation to give the city's side.
