OKLAHOMA CITY -

All ramps have reopened after a fiery crash near the interchange of Interstate 40 and Interstate 35 shut down traffic for several hours.

Around 1 a.m. Friday, a Camaro carrying five people was traveling southbound on Interstate 235. As the car tried to merge onto the ramp toward southbound I-35, the driver lost control. The Camaro flew off the road and onto the southbound ramp from I-40 to I-35.

The car slammed into the back of a semi-truck, and went under the trailer. The top of the car was sheared off. The car then spun off the road and burst into flames. All five people inside the Camaro were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the semi was not hurt.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol shut down traffic in the area for several hours while they investigated the fatal crash. Right now, troopers are not sure what caused the deadly collision.

"As far as any intoxicants, that's all still under investigation," said Trooper Joey McLaughlin. "There is no evidence of it right now. It is pretty unclear the causation of them departing the road to the left."

The names of the people killed have not been released. Troopers are still trying to notify their families, some of whom may live overseas.

All lanes of traffic reopened at 6:15 a.m.
