SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -

Firefighters are battling a grass fire in Shawnee Saturday afternoon.

According to the Shawnee Fire Department, crews responded to the grass fire in the area of Interstate 40 from mile marker 181 to 183.

Officials say the fire broke out near a casino. It is threatening 75 to 100 homes, including 30 apartments.

There are no further evacuations in the area of West Tech and I-40. Crews are still there working the fire.

Fire crews have also successfully extinguished a separate fire near the St. Gregory's College near 1900 West MacArthur Street. Firefighters will remain on scene to pour water on hot spots.

The American Red Cross says they have five volunteers on scene providing water, snacks and sports drinks.
