Two Tulsa women were arrested after police stopped a vehicle just before 2 a.m. on Interstate 44. Police say the women were heavily intoxicated and had four children in the car, ages 2 months to 5 years.

Arresting officers stopped driver Denise Lee Whitetree, 18, after seeing her vehicle merge onto the highway, traveling at a high rate of speed and almost hitting another car. The 18-year-old woman was "extremely drunk" with a strong smell of alcohol on her breath, according to the report.

Officers say 22-year-old Desiree Whitetree was in the backseat.

"She was passed out, and it was readily apparent she was heavily intoxicated," the officer said.

There were four children in the vehicle. Officers said two young children, approximate ages 2 and 5 years old, were not in child restraints. There were also two infants in car seats that were not secured in the seat properly. They were about 2 and 3 months old, according to the report.

"There were multiple cans of full beer and one opened container of beer under the driver seat," the officer states in his report.

"The children were crying and the infants had not been cleaned for what appeared to be a long time."

Officers say Desiree is the mother of three of the children and Denise is the mother of one child.

The driver, Denise Whitetree, had a blood alcohol content that measured 0.17 and 0.15, the report states.

Both women were booked on four felony complaints of child endangerment. Denise Whitetree was also booked on complaints of aggravated driving under the influence, no driver's license, following too closely, and transporting an open container.

Desiree Whitetree had an additional complaint of public intoxication.
