One thing I've learned about many loan modification companies is that they will take your credit score, and crush it. Some will tell their customers to stop paying their mortgage. The thought is a lender will then be more willing to drop the loan amount because some money is better than no money. But when you withhold your payment, your credit score plummets.

If you've been a victim of an unscrupulous loan settlement company I would first file a complaint with the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office at 405-521-3921. Next I would file a complaint with the Attorney General in the state where the business is located. For instance, Both C & R loan modification and Elect Group are located in Florida. To file a complaint with the state of Florida, call the fraud hotline at 1-866-966-7226 or download a complaint form on their website by clicking here.
