CASHION, Oklahoma -- There's a shakeup in the town of Cashion as two members of its public safety personnel are accused of questionable practices.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Spokesperson Jessica Brown said the fire chief is being investigated by OSBI and the police chief has resigned amid charges of conspiracy.

These are two separate investigations, one involving the former police chief who has been charged with conspiracy and fraud.

According to Cashion Mayor Brian Smith, the fire chief and emergency management director, Danny Clark, and his wife Stephanie, the city's clerk and treasurer, are being investigated for embezzlement.

"They had an investigation open looking into certain questionable financial transactions involving the town clerk treasurer and the emergency services director," Mayor Smith said.

When NEWS 9 went to the Clark's home, no one was there. Signs of love and support from a local church were displayed in their front window. The city's board of trustees placed the Clarks on paid administrative leave.

OSBI is conducting the investigation at the request of the Kingfisher County Sheriff.

There's no word on when that investigation will wrap up.

The former police chief Ron Nelson has been charged out of Pontotoc County on conspiracy and fraudulent application of CLEET certification. CLEET is required training for most police officers.

Nelson resigned his position last month and moved to Wyoming before the charges were handed down and the arrests warrants were issued.

Mayor Smith said that a new police chief has been appointed. As for the fire department and treasurer's office, other employees in those departments are handling the Clarks' assignments.
