BURNEYVILLE, Okla. (AP) - The nearly 13 inches of rain that fell on Burneyville shattered the 1-day record for rainfall and also broke the record for an entire month.
The Mesonet station in the Love County town recorded 12.89 inches of rain from 10:50 a.m. Wednesday until 5:10 a.m. Thursday to break the record of 6.62 inches that fell April 28, 2006.
And it's more than the previous record for rain in a month at Burneyville. The old record was 12.01 inches that fell in June 2004.
The state record for rainfall in one day was set Oct. 11, 1973, when 15.68 inches fell in Enid.
