The city of Claremore announced some big retail plans Tuesday morning.  A private developer plans to take 129 acres, which are about a mile south of downtown Claremore on state Highway 66 and turning it into the Oklahoma Plaza.  The $110 million investment will include residential, business, waterfront and greenway areas. The proposed development, which is located south of the Wal-Mart and east of Lowe's, is expected to create about 300 jobs and generate more than $2 million in tax revenue.

Officials say the development will include 625,000 square feet of commercial office space, which will include restaurants, a hotel and conference center, shops and a 14 screen movie theater.

Officials add that there will also be park-like areas, multiple lake and water features, an outdoor amphitheater and an outdoor entertainment venue at the core of the development.

Plans also include more than 225 plus single-family homes, more than a hundred upscale apartments and condo units and 30 luxury lofts.  Claremore city officials say the development is on the fast track.  Meaning, they will start clearing land in a few weeks and hope to have the first buildings up by mid-2009.
