STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma State was credited with breaking up seven passes in its 39-to-3 victory over Sam Houston State University.

But defensive coordinator Tim Beckman takes a different view on that column of the stat sheet. Beckman saw them as five opportunities to catch the football and make an interception, but that didn't happen.

Through five games, the Cowboys have four interceptions and three fumble recoveries and are tied with three other teams for the fewest takeaways in the Big 12 Conference.

Cornerback Perrish Cox had three of the breakups, including one on an interception in the end zone that was overturned by instant replay.

He also had a pass bounce off the front of his helmet during the second quarter.

Cox made up for it later with a 49-yard punt return for a touchdown.
