OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma family said they fear a stop sign blocked by county equipment may have led to their daughter's death.
Twenty-seven-year-old Kirbi Nicole Wilson died July 15 when her vehicle crashed into an embankment at Covell and Westminister Road. A passenger survived.
An Edmond police officer at the scene stated in a police report that there were no signs posted that gave advance warning about road construction or the upcoming stop sign. The police report also stated construction equipment blocked the sign.
"This vehicle would have obstructed a driver's view of the stop sign for a vehicle traveling eastbound on Covell Road," according to the police report.
The report also said there was evidence the driver and passenger had been drinking. Wilson was not wearing her seatbelt.
