Fill the donation bag you receive in your mailbox the week of May 7, or any plastic bag, with canned food and leave it by your mailbox on May 12. Your letter carrier will do the rest. The Food for Kids program not only provides backpacks for kids dealing with hunger, but also food pantries for needy families. At Cimarron Middle School in Edmond, the coordinator there knows firsthand the struggle of being hungry.
When John Bobb Semple got a job welcoming volunteers at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, it was just that, a job. He got that this place helped people. However, it wasn't until a few months in that he really understood how.
For every $200 collected, one child will receive a backpack full of food each week for the entire school year.
