Oklahoma City Man Named Oklahoma Hero

Oklahoma has voted Oklahoma City's Ernie Chastain as the Oklahoma Hero winner.

It is what Ernie does at State Fair time that put him over the edge. Ernie got more than 1,000 votes.

Cheryl Jones is the proud daughter Ernie, a Knights of Columbus volunteer, is proud of his efforts to send hundreds of local children to the State Fair each year for free.

He's active in making the lives of the less fortunate and the mentally challenged better - all from behind the scenes - in various communities. He's indeed an Oklahoma Hero.

Nine people were nominated with nine different, but equally inspiring, stories with a record number of votes cast on News9.com. This year 10 times more votes were cast than last year.
