EDMOND, Okla. -- Edmond Santa Fe High School junior Heather Harkness died during an appendectomy at an Oklahoma City hospital Tuesday, Edmond Public Schools Associate Superintendent Brenda Lyons has confirmed.
The 16-year-old, who played on the school's volleyball team, died at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Lyons said.
The school canceled Tuesday's volleyball games, Lyons said.
